The advanced Nordic ID PL2000 combines the attributes of a batch handheld instrument with those of a radio terminal giving the user the best of both worlds. The light-weight handheld barcode reader has a user accessible PCMCIA type II slot for supporting a wide range of compatible PC-cards, for instance a GSM, WLAN or a GPRS card. Nordic ID PL2000 supports any technology that is provided in PC card format, eg. Bluetooth and GPS. One hand for the Nordic ID PL2000, the other one free. In designing of PL2000 special attention has been paid to ergonomics. The device fits snugly in the palm and it can be operated using one hand. All the buttons on the device are easily operated by your thumb and you can have your PL2000 with you all day, as it weighs only 410g. Basically this is a Reinforced PDA with integrated laser barcode reader and PCMCIA II card slot, speaker and mic (+ connector for headset), 8bit color touch screen with stylus and as a cherry for the pie Li-Ion battery for mobility and flexibility (Li-Ion lets you charge whenever you want to)... We have received an information that this device does not support Java, so if your systems run on Java you will need to tinker up something custom for it.

Updating instruction:

1. Check that the docking unit is connected into computer's USB port.
2. Remove barcode reader's network card (pull to remove).
3. Place the barcode reader into docking station.
4. Reset device with the button which is located in the hole for stylus (for example use a paper clip) and press the yellow scan button.
5. Run PiccoUSB2
6. From barcode reader maintenance menu -> Download img -> OK
7. First run EBOOT 2.3.0.nb0 image.
8. When device restarts return to point 4.
9. From barcode reader maintenance menu -> Download img -> OK
10. Load PL2000 v2.3.0.bin image (do not compress if it suggest to do that)
11. When device starts up go into point 4.
12. Select maintenance menu -> Erase Flash -> OK
13. Barcode reader restarts again.

Device's first boot will take some time, no need to panic even though the device is stuck in Kernel-boot. If it takes too long time then remove battery, restart the device, drink three cups of coffee and device works.
