Hose barb connectors are usually cheapest option to make your connections. Just take your hose and slide it over the barb. It's usually advisable to clamp down the hose with something to the hose barb or in worst case scenario your connector or hose will turn into a flying projectile (usually you'll end up living it through with disconnected connection and with the resulted leak).
