Controlling the RGB LED strip is easy. The srip has common + (anode) and - (kathode) foe every color pins (R, G, B). so if you want to have the whole strip into one spesific main color you need to connect power supply + into the strip’s + pin and - into the pin of desired color. respectively you can get the mix of basic colors by the same way, but you need to connect the pins of desired colors into the power supply’s - pin (for eg red and blue becomes magenta).

If you want to control strip’s color in more fexible manner you can use dimmer with each color signal. In its simplest form dimmer has brighness adjustment  for each primary color. Fancier models featurea memory banks, music controlling, premade color maps, chases and fade, etc... DMX dimmers can be used for remote operation or as a piece of bigger systems for controlling RGB LED strips. When selecting a dimmer you need to decide the controlling method and LED strip’s max power use determines the min power rating. So if your strip takes in 6A you can’t use 4A dimmer in it.
