This is one of the most popular type of an audio connectors in use when connecting power into and between equipment. This is perhaps one of the best reasonable priced connectors available on the market.

Here is a few good properties regarding this connector:

• Coupling is made with one hand
• Connection is locked by turning connector clockwise and opening by releasing the locking clip and rotating counter clockwise
• Shocking hard 20A continuous current capability, with vibration resistant spring loaded contacts
• Good strain relief and sturdy lead connection
• Field installation is possible with the help of a screw driver and a side pliers (also Leatherman or similar multitool will do)
• Durable construction (if these withstand in the hands of a band’s bass player then surely they will withstand in your use)
• Idiot proof, connectors do mate only with the opposite gender connectors (no sexual minority like connections) and connectors connections are protected from touching from electrical point of view.
• Yet another idiot proof feature thanks to the color coding (and related connector keying) which prohibits user to perform output to output and input to input connections. This also prevents different phases getting mixed up in larger installation, which depending on the supply side schuco connector's position in the socket will get phase connected to neutral or in worst case phase connected into phase, which results in nice 400VAC high voltage spark.
• On the downside, it should be noted that the connection of the connector under load is not permitted by the manufacturer. However, with our own experience with smaller loads, this has been done, though still not recommended procedure.
